Choosing the Right Pressure Class for Your Network
PN 16, PN 25, PN 40 — the rating you specify shapes cost, lead time and safety margin. A short primer.
Pressure class (PN) defines the maximum operating pressure a component is certified for. Over-specify and you pay for margin you never use; under-specify and you compromise the safety envelope of the whole network.
For most municipal gas and water networks, PN 16 is the working baseline. Industrial and high-pressure transmission lines move into PN 25 and PN 40+, where material grade, wall thickness and certification all tighten.
When in doubt, specify the medium, diameter and operating pressure and let our technical team confirm the class. Getting it right at enquiry stage is far cheaper than discovering a mismatch on site.
